  Cousin Dale_29 provided the following: "James W. Choate (b. 7/20/1845, d.3/27/1912) married Emley Frances Spicer (b. 11/15/1852, d.1/26/1933). She was the daughter of Russell Jonas Spicer (b. 1827, d.abt 1869, TN) and Mary Box (b. abt 1833, d.abt 1863, TN). She was sister of Amanda Spicer, who married William Rufus Choate. Emley had a previous marriage to James Smith, with one child, John Russell Smith (b. 6/2/1869, Humphreys Co, TN, d. 1/25/1959, Mayfield, Graves Co, KY). John Russell Smith was raised by James and Emley Choate. John married Hattie Harden Mason (b. 12/27/1866 in KY; d. 1/4/1947 in Mayfield, Graves Co, KY). James and Emley had only one child together, Walter Lee Choate, which you have corrected. Walter Lee Choate married Myrtle Lee McGill (b. 2/27/1882 in Graves Co, KY; d. 4/23/1918 in Graves Co, KY). They had 3 children: Elizabeth Choate (b. 1901 in Graves Co, KY), James Rufus Choate (b. 12/23/1903 in Graves Co, KY; d. 2/25/1979 in Contra Costa Co, CA), and Walter Garrett Choate (b. 10/2/1906 in Graves Co, KY; d. 12/7/1960 in Jacksonville, Duval Co, FL). Walter Lee Choate then married Martha Ruby Hicks (b. 5/3/1896 in Big Sandy, Benton Co, TN; d. 10/13/1984 in Jacksonville).
